"I um-... I... can I have a-..." Nervousness filled the small caramel-colored male as he stared up at the menu board. He had been standing there for several minutes now, trying to find his confidence and his voice to order a mere lunch for himself. But it was proving harder than he thought without Tiago there to take over for him.
They had gone to the mall that afternoon to go shopping for some new clothes. Now that they had some extra money in their pockets they could afford to start really stocking up on their necessities. Clothes was at the top of that list. The boys' closets were pitifully bare save for their work 'uniforms' and some worn out everyday clothing they'd ran away from home with. So for the past few hours they had wandered from store to store (more seeming like Gogo dragging him from one place to another) getting this and that. It was fun, Chavez would admit, but just a little exhausting and stressful. His shyness was his downfall, making him unable to ask an employee to unlock a dressing room or help him find the right size in something. And now, unable to even order a simple corndog and lemonade.
He shifted where he stood, tightly clutching his shopping bags in his hands. Brown eyes were squeezed shut a moment as he let out a low whimper. "N-nevermind," he squeaked out finally before turning and hurrying away. With a tinge of shame he sat down at an empty table in the busy food court, setting his bags aside and slumping over the hard surface. He felt so pitiful... unable to even order food.
He supposed he'd just... have to wait until Tiago finished getting his own food. Surely the other male would go get the corndog for him.
