IN THE END [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,475,true][atrb=cellspacing,0,true] it doesn't even matter It was a rainy day for a visit to the zoo.
But it really didn't matter. Cindy had always enjoyed rainy days. It was perhaps contradictory to what many would have guessed. After all, her nickname was Sunny. But her nickname hadn't come from her love of the sun, but rather her unique ability to bring light to even the darkest of situations.
Not many people made trips to the zoo alone. Almost everyone else here seemed to be with friends and family, but this was not the case for Cindy. Rather, she enjoyed simply going by herself and enjoying the animals. She'd love to have someone else with her, but very few of her friends wanted to go as frequently as she did. So if she wanted to visit, she'd often have to visit alone.
Cindy stood outside of the enclosure which contained the lions. Inside there was a beautiful and powerful lioness and an even more ferocious-looking male lion. Many would perhaps think that was how they looked, but to Cindy, they were like over-sized teddy bears. Stuffed animals. They were so cute. They wouldn't hurt a fly now, would they?
The girl crossed her arms behind her, standing there and merely watching the animals... entertaining her own thoughts.
I wonder what they think about...

Seriously, what was the point when it was raining outside? The animals probably enjoyed it, but Xeph had never been one for the rain. But he had nothing to do, as his older brother was currently out working or whatever he did on days like this, which left the younger Cronin sibling to fend for himself or else give into boredom.
He approached the lion's den with a straight face, the pieces of his hair that were out in the rain had long since stuck to his forehead in a messy fashion. Oh well, at least he wasn't with anyone that would make fun of him. It wasn't as if he'd made too many friends since he'd been here, after all. Felix was all he had, and even then, most of the time he spent alone since his brother was always busy with something. Xepher was practically the outcast at his high school, being that it was his last year there and he still had no friends, and that he was a year older than the other kids on top of that. He'd missed a year of high school with all the moving around his family had done, which left him a year behind. While that wouldn't have bothered him normally, it sort of pissed him off knowing that other kids probably thought he was stupid for being 'held back' when that wasn't even the case.
But Xepher's attention was grabbed when he noticed a girl standing nearby who seemed intrigued by the lions in their 'natural' habitat. He let his eyes linger for only a moment, as he didn't want to look like he was that guy staring for no reason at a zoo. Generally girls got freaked out by that. But since she was so close and it was raining and no one else was really around, he figured he'd give it a go. "Some good day we picked to go to the zoo, huh? At least the animals look happy." It was just meant as a little greeting from zoo-goer to zoo-goer, so he just let his comment drop at that. Maybe she'd respond, maybe not. He'd just have to wait and see.

Cindy greeted the boy. She'd been taken by surprise when he'd first spoken but it hadn't taken long for her to calm down. Still, he might have noticed that she nearly jumped out of her shoes as soon as he'd spoken to her. The shock began to settle though and moments later she'd regained her calm composure, now standing with her hands crossed behind her.
The boy she recognized. He was actually someone from her own high school, though he was quite a bit older than her. Was he a senior? She wasn't sure. It was unfortunate though because she liked to know everyone. It was a hard thing to do though.
"I know you, you're ummm... Zofis, right?! A senior?" Cindy took a guess in the dark. She knew she'd heard his name before for sure. Although she knew there was a chance she'd butchered his name, she merely hoped for the best.
"I'm Cindy!" she introduced herself quite energetically.

"oh..hi. i'm sorry if i startled you," he answered. while he did mean his apology, he was surprised when his voice conveyed hardly any emotion. he probably needed to work on that. it wasn't helping his lack of friends problem..
but if anything surprised him, it was the fact that this girl seemed to recognize him. xepher had to wonder where it was that she knew him from, but she answered his mental question by asking if he was a senior. ah, she must be from school.. the boy blinked though, realizing that she'd completely butchered his name. but she tried, though. xepher was a very uncommon name, so he wasn't at all surprised. the male gave a short laugh before answering. "yeah, i'm xepher and i'm also a senior. i'm..surprised you recognized me." because hey, no one paid attention to him and he'd only been going to the high school here for a few months now. so this cindy girl got props for knowing that, he supposed.
xepher offered her a small smile, shrugging. "it's nice to officially meet you, then, cindy." he gave a slight nod of the head before glancing back into the lion's den. to be honest, xeph hadn't really taken the time to notice anyone at his school. it was his last year in high school, so he was just trying to focus on school and work and all that. he felt bad for not knowing cindy when she seemed to know him, but xepher didn't really have any good excuse to give. he was just quiet by nature, he supposed. either that, or his parents had just messed him up real good. either way.. "do you come here..often? this is my first time at this zoo." |

The soft rain that pattered upon the roof of the city's exposed metals kettle drummed a beat for its inhabitants to walk to, influencing the boy to almost march with pride. It was one of those days that made Arin glad he was smart enough to wear a hat.
But it was not quite like one of those days, in that he didn't think to wear anything with long sleeves to break the wind.
Or to bring an umbrella.
Or anything that would have been majorly helpful in this situation.
So maybe it wasn't quite his day. But he was going to the zoo in the first time since his age was in the single digits, so that should count for something. This nostalgia trip wasn't going to be set back by a little downpour.
The boy had made it in a while ago, and was now just rounding the corner to where the lions were contained. He had to know how cats that big handled the rain; were they like house cats and ran with their tails between their legs? Did they poof up their fur? He had to know!
But what he met was something rather unexpected.
Standing just a few meters ahead of the corner he had just turned was Sunny. A smile lit up in Arin's chest. He hadn't expected that little sunshine to be out and about in the rain, especially not at the zoo. Well now he could visit all of the dampened animals with a good friend of hi-
Wait. Who was that?
Another character seemed to be her main interest. A rather good looking fellow at that. They sure were smiley with one another.
Were they dating?
A pang of concern and something else ricochet all throughout his chest. Th-that wasn't a bad thing. She could date whoever she wanted. It wasn't any of h-his concern. But they were friends, so if they were dating, he would eventually have to meet this stranger.
In fact, it'd be best to meet him now so if he is obviously not the one, then Arin can make sure Cindy knows that.
So he should just stroll over, and he did, and he stood there.
With nothing to say.
Arin stood adjacent to the two, looking back and forth between the two of them silently. After a few moments, his expression would change as if he had just noticed them there.
"Oh. Hey Cindy. Cool seeing you here."
His head cocked toward the stranger.
"Who's this?"
