APPEARANCE
Jack isn’t exactly short, standing at 6’1, but he is well built for such height. Slender limbs accented with toned compact muscle from years of working out, and broad shoulders that tend to cast an indimidating shadow. There are a few distinctive features that set him apart as well, one being the rather obvious scar across the bridge of his nose, which touches both cheekbones. It is the most obvious of the myriad of scars that litter his body. Long blue hair is usually kept up in a ponytail to the top of his head and natural red eyes. Jack has a tattoo on the right side of his face, around the area of his eye. Also there are tattoos all over his body to mask scarred tissue—wounds taken from working in the force. He likes to blend in with normal citizens most of the time, dressing like a casual business man; a button up shirt, tie, slacks, and casual shoes.

PERSONALITY
Jack’s personality can flip like the tides, but there are few things that will always be consistent with him. There is a code of ethics for him that dictates “If a friend is in danger, nothing is more important.” This foundation of loyalty shapes, or rather dictates the actions that help him get results. All at once he is consistently honest, never wavering in the face of danger if he believes something is right. Even if harm does fall to him, there is a recognized view that limbs in this day and age can somewhat be replaced—so why waste precious living worrying? Jack has a temper that is quick to flare at personal jabs, or jabs towards people he cares about. In that instance he doesn’t really think before he acts, frankly leading him to terrible situations, such as pub fights, or shootouts.

HISTORY
FAMILY ✚ HARRIS COYT (father – deceased), MICHIKO COYT (mother - 54), REBECCA COTY -SELLERS (sister – 21), DANIEL SELLERS (brother-in-law – 22)
Jack comes from a family of cops, his father Harris being an officer and, later, a detective for the NYPD.
Though at a young age he didn’t realize it, considering he was so enamored with his father and the work he did. Jack was born in the middle of a spring blizzard, his mother’s parents insisted it would mean his life would be full of hardship and rebellion. At the time there was no mind paid to the warning, but eventually the superstitious predictions would hold some truth. Coming from a half Japanese, half Irish home would only be the half of it. Early on though it was confirmed, he was definitely his father’s son. As a child Jack was extremely stubborn, observant and fearless—most of the time it was to catch his father’s attention. Though he had been coddled by his mother when he got hurt; something he outwardly protested to show bravery.
Being a child of a multi-cultural relationship, religious identities were split. Harris was an avid Catholic, which he believed left room for error, and Madoka infused Shinto teachings on the children. Fueling a slew of new stories of monsters beneath the bed.
Always striving to be free, and good Jack had spent a humble childhood defending his younger sister throughout middle school, where he started to own his chops. Harris (his father) made it a point to try and hone Jack’s eidetic memory. Harris, concerned with his son’s wellbeing thought the mind was always more powerful than the fist. Jack would later disagree to an extent. Spending a lot of time building up his tolerance and tenacity, standing up to injustices by bullies. Jack wasn’t the strongest, but he was the most determined and definitely cunning—the strength would come in time. Towards the last year in middle school his parents enrolled him in self-defense classes and Iaijutsu. Though the classes had the opposite effect leading him down the path of a delinquent relatively quickly in high school. While not keen on the prospect of eventually following his father’s father, and his father before him the childlike admiration of the officer had started to wear.
In his sophomore year he found acting, which became a secret hobby, participating in plays outside of school. Which would provide a good outlet for time that would be spent otherwise in trouble. Falling in love with the idea of donning another persona, and conveying an interesting story through spoken word. They always seemed to come easy to him, forever empathetic it seemed Jack played on the emotions of the crowd and his comrades. Acting landed him a scholarship to college, which he was reluctant to take because he had no idea what he would major in. Acting long-term was never really in the cards for him; by personal opinion.
In his first year in college, Harris Coyt passed away. Which probably spurred him to take criminal justice courses in night school. Left to question mortality Jack decided it better to do what he could to honour his father’s memory. Spending as much time as he could pouring over facts, and figures within the law, as well as time on the shooting range. Graduating NYU with honours and four year degree at twenty-two, eager to begin work.
Sailing through the selection process with valid credentials, scoring high on the DCAS, JSP and Oral interview, and passing general examinations. Once clearing the ‘boring’ parts of the enrollment, Jack was placed in the police academy. Becoming quick friends with most of the other soon to be officers, familiarizing himself to their names and aspirations. Though the happiest moment of his career would be walking out in the uniform for the first time. As the sun rose on his twenty-third birthday it was spent quietly, without much excitement—mulling over his accomplishment with his sister and mother. That was the same year that his sister Rebecca had found love, and started hastily dating a fellow, Daniel.
Jack found beat life rather tumultuous, diligently dedicating himself to paperwork, and working most cases to the very last lead. Though none of it went unnoticed with his superiors; gallantly earning commendations left and right for his achievements. In his first year he started an investigation of missing materials from the evidence department. Which would have been minor in his eyes if items from a cache of weapons hadn’t been missing as well. Asking the wrong questions usually led to unfavorable results. Personal files were eventually commandeered by his commissioner and swept under the rug by the IT department. When an opportunity arose, he was submitted for transfer to the SWAT division at twenty-four.
Always first in line for dangerous jobs, quelling warzones of feuding gangs, raiding warehouses with obviously armed personnel. All to distract him away from uncovering information that would possibly set most of his superiors on the road to ruin. Which is probably why they started to forge documents of past behavior—which he felt it was only appropriate to adopt as his own. Because getting in trouble obviously wasn’t going to stop.
It was during a raid on a drug house that he received the scar on his nose. If it hadn’t been for the visor that fell over his eyes, the scar probably would have been detrimental. Though this was the reason why he got into this line of work. Picking up new techniques from the SWAT training courses that they were scheduled to take at least once a year. Per a personal investigation of corruption within the ranks which he started as a rookie, Jack was released from duty at twenty-six. Blacklisted, repeatedly, and accused of slander, conspiracy, and forgery. Also due to continued troubles with obeying orders, insubordination, refusal to acknowledge authority, mouthing off to a superior officer, having an altercation with a superior officer, and assaulting a witness in the interrogation office. Turning independent investigator, and part time brawler.
