Eyes shifted over the linoleum floor as the rhythmic beep of machines sounded off. The teenage girl sat quietly in the stiff-backed chair, the spring-filled seat beginning to hurt her rear. The hospital room was relatively quiet, the only voice coming from those machines, forcing the woman in the bed to breath, beat, pulse, live. A few roses sat on the bedside table with a rather drab lamp. The younger female, Lorrie, pulled her legs up to her chest, hooking her heels on the edge of the chair. Arms wrapped around her legs in a sort of fetal position. After a moment, Lorrie shifted to plant her feet on the floor. She rose from the chair and looked back at the woman in the hospital bed, lying there with eyes closed. A forced smile twitched at Lorrie`s lips as she took the woman`s hand in her own, crouching down a bit to deliver a kiss onto the back of the hand, warm lips pressing against cool skin. She straightened up, turned on her heel, moved toward the door. She paused at the doorway, looking over her shoulder without a word before exiting the room, softly closing the door behind her. She brushed off her black pleated skirt, trying to dispose of any wrinkles. Hands then moved to adjust her button-down collared shirt and the tank top beneath, having not bothered to button up the over shirt. Simple black flats tapped against the tiles as she moved away from the door and the sign that clung to it. Maggie Cantus it read, in bold, practical letters.

These trips to the hospital has become more frequent over the last few weeks. The fainting spells that follow the extreme dizziness makes it all the more difficult to ingest anything. Phoenix had started to notice, too. If not for her smart choice of loose clothing, even folks at work would have fussed. She wasn't in the mood for confrontations and if this stupid eating disorder was going to mess up her job for her, she swore she'd flip. Lucky she hasn't been seeing much of anyone lately and should anyone ask, Kitty could always use work stress as a convenient alibi. How long will she keep this up? Not to mention the sun's almost gone and it's time to show up for another night of flimsy singing. After the poking about, the nurse let the blonde ease back into her evening gown and put on a warm coat. They exchanged thoughtful smiles and was handed a presciption. The instruction was to drop by the pharmacy and fetch her medicine. Again. Quickly Kitty snatched the piece of paper, crumpling it tightly in her palm and left the room without giving the nurse another glance. She knew it won't be the last time they'll see each other anyway. She decided she'll go straight to Gotham, as there was no time to grab a bite. The perfect excuse as always. Breathing in the stink of metal and antiseptics, she dragged her legs across the hall keeping her head down lest somebody recognized her, coughing from time to time to relieve the itching in her throat. ___ ooc: Hope this is okay! Sorry for teh lateness. // i figured if kitty noticed lorrie first, she wouldn't call out her name. she'd avoid her 'cause the questions and all. maybe they'd end up going to gotham together--but not before dropping by the pharmacy. dundundun 8) tags: lorrie words: 263

Red gaze focused on the floor as her legs worked almost mechanically, mind wandering without really thinking. Hands would`ve been shoved in her pockets if she`d had any. Instead her arms hung at her sides, looking a bit awkward. She lifted her eyes to look around, checking that she was going the right way. Fingers moved to brush a few stray wisps of her long red hair out of her face. To Lorrie`s surprise, a somewhat familiar figure appeared from one of the rooms a little ways ahead of her. Her lips pursed in a look of contemplation, thoughts swirling over whether it was who she thought it was. Feet picked up the pace as the person ahead of her walked down the hall. Curiosity drove her on, wanting to know if it was one of her co-workers. She couldn`t for the life of her remember the woman`s name, but as she thought about it, Lorrie wasn`t sure they`d ever really talked before. She drew nearer the familiar figure, reaching out a hand to try and tap their shoulder. "Ah... hello? I may be mistaken, but don`t you work at Gotham?" Voice was hesitant, not wanting to disturb someone if she didn`t know them.

There was no need to look up and check the hallway signs. She'd memorized the place like the back of her hand, what with the needing to attend to her own ailments instead of anyone else worrying over her. Kitty shut her eyes tight and breathed out, picking up her pace upon noticing another person coming closer from the opposite end of the aisle. She should have taken the stairs to the left. Ugh. Her eyes fixed at the girl's steps, and her chest rose in nervous anticipation as she noticed a gradual slow as if they meant to approach her---no, wait, that's close enough---she halted, and instinctively dodged the finger that was almost going to touch her. It looked awkward, what she did, but there was no helping it. If she hadn't been walking close to the wall, she would have most definitely fell over, but thankfully her reflexes weren't waning as badly as her appetite.
"Er--HEY!" that might have been too loud, obviously startled. She wasn't expecting anyone to recognize her in this place, not that she knew a lot of people who frequented the hospitals, but this was still most irritating. "Yes, yes--I-I sing...there" she said with a broken smile while idly, and quite repetitively, brushing away the stray strands of hair from her face as was her habit when slightly agitated. "Do I know you?" she squinted at the girl who certainly looked familiar, a bad thing, really, all the while trying to sound as polite as possible though failing miserably as it sounded a bit rushed, the way she spoke just now. Kitty did not stand straight, in fact she was regarding the girl showing only her shaded profile, and her body languaged screamed 'please, no, i cannot stay for this'.
